Alternative lawns: how to design biodiverse urban green spaces

<p>While dealing with the problems of globalization and unification of the urban environment we noticed a surprising similarity of most urban habitats, especially lawns. Regardless of geographic and climatic conditions “green carpets” are similar in species composition, functions and aesthetic parameters. A major grant received from FORMAS was used to transdisciplinary study and apprehend the environmental and cultural phenomenon in Sweden, and to look for alternative solutions to the urban planning and design.</p>
